Holland Village Singapore Is A Glittering Entertainment Mecca
Holland Village Singapore is the spot for young and old alike on the nightlife scene and offers a variety of restaurants, bars and shops, some open 24 hours. So, it’s easy to find something to do, if you can’t sleep at night because of time zone changes. Many of the clubs and bars feature live bands and discos, so it’s absolutely happening. I love to dance until late at night and then find a great restaurant for a late night meal.
Besides being an entertainment district that offers great nightlife, Holland Village has some great shopping and restaurants to visit during the day. It took me just 10 minute drive from Orchard Road in Singapore, over to Holland Village for some night-time enjoyment. You can visit both districts in the same outing, if you do this or just hop on a cab or a bus.

Holland Village Singapore
Orchard Road is also a popular nightlife area and they offer several options for entertainment and eateries in close proximity to each other. I really liked that it was close to Holland Village district. Orchard Road has many of the high end shops, similar to New York’s 5th Avenue, so I had to stop in a few of them to get a new outfit for the night. At Holland Village, I went to a ritzy wine bar that served some great food.
You can see the bohemian influence everywhere in Holland Village Singapore. Shopping, entertainment and night-time fun made me forget what time it was. Like many of the night club, bar and pub areas in Singapore, most of them are huddled together to make bar-hopping an exciting way to try different drinks and food in a short walk!
Since many pubs and bars stay open until the wee hours of morning, it’s a great entertainment mecca for people like my crowd that wanted to keep going. While Singapore doesn’t deserve the label of a city that never sleeps, there is a choice of bars that stay open until 3AM and a few clubs even go until 6AM or 7AM.
Here are some of my favorite places in Holland Village; you have to visit them when you are there:
- Chaplin’s in Holland Village is for the young crowd, plays 80s music and is open until 2AM on Friday and Saturday nights.
- Harry’s at Holland Village gives you the opportunity to watch the bustle of Holland Village with a classic bar that serves up your favorite cocktails until 2AM.
- Wala Wala in Holland Village is the grand dame of bars along the Lorong Mambong stretch in the village. It is over a decade old, offers two stories that pack in crowds of students and yuppies. Wala Wala is open until 2AM and has table games, a loungy feel and lots of different kinds of beer.

Holland Village Pubs and Bars
When it comes to Singapore nightlife, you have to try some of the restaurants in Holland Village Singapore. Chinese, Malay, Indian, European, Western, Thai, Korean and Japanese restaurants can be found throughout Singapore, and Holland Village offers a great variety of the national favorites. I personally love their Chilli crab, which is a national specialty.
Tapas Wine Bistro pairs up fine food and fine wine and our party loved the culinary variety and atmosphere. Tapas Wine Bistro in Holland Village has spectacular culinary creations and a wine cellar with a vast selection of wines by the bottle, half-bottle or glass. They are open until 3AM on Friday and Saturday nights.
An added bonus is that food in Singapore is inexpensive, so you can try different varieties and they won’t break your wallet. Seafood restaurants are popular in Singapore because of their seaside location and Malayan food steamed in banana leaf and infused with spices is another specialty found in cafes, hawker stalls and coffee shops at Holland Village Singapore. You must try that when you are there.

Holland Village Nightscene
Essential Brew is a Holland Village tea lounge that is separated into an elegant dining area on the ground floor and a cozy café on the 2nd floor. They have wireless access and outlet charging for your devices. They offered tea infused drinks and are open until 11pm at night, although you’ll be up all night if you are still drinking tea at that time.
2am Dessertbar in Holland Village is just what the name implies. This is a great place to mingle and get great desserts all the way to 2AM, Monday thru Saturday. There is a 24 hour coffee shop located at Holland Village if you want to have a taste of local food. And they also have some of the food chains known around the world, such as Burger King, Haagen-Dazs and Subway, if you are afraid to try anything new.

Shopping in Holland Village
Of course, besides the great nightlife at Holland Village, you can’t miss it for a unique shopping experience. There are small, exotic shops, antique shops, Cold Storage Supermarket and other booths that offer gifts and souvenirs to take home from your trip to Singapore.
When it comes to Singapore nightlife, be sure you are aware of local customs, such as no drinking and driving. Singapore offers several public transportation options, MRT (subway), bus and taxis, so you will need to plan to take advantage of one of those means of transportation. Of course, smoking is prohibited by law in enclosed area including pubs and bars, and no party drugs are allowed. It’s for a good time, so just keep an eye out so you don’t get in trouble!
Singapore nightlife is becoming world known and the tourists are flocking here. Many world class hotels and boutique hotels are located right in the middle of the entertainment and nightlife. Holland Village Singapore is close to the action, so make sure you plan it as part of your trip to Singapore. You won’t be disappointed.
