Hotel Oriental Singapore, A Taste Of The Asian Culture…

Hotel Oriental Singapore
As the name suggests, stepping into Hotel Oriental Singapore does gave you a feel of Asian culture, yet this feel is not too suffocating and overwhelming. Rather, the pleasing artifact places in different corner of the Hotel add a touch of deep heritage to the hotel. A modern feel with Chinese set up as the main theme and background.
The Oriental is Singapore’s only five star Mandarin Oriental hotel, combining spectacular architectural design and a prime waterfront location with the finest standards of comfort and service. This 5 star hotel has been continually singled out to receive international and local recognition, placing it among the world’s top hotels.
We were escorted from our car to our room where we were checked in by a very polite hostess. A whole line of employees greeted us by name when we arrived. Sound impressive right! Somehow the tall and lanky doorman never fails to catch my attention. His smile was always present and made our day.
The Hotel Oriental Singapore building structure seem layered all the way to the top. Once you are out of the room you can overlook the whole hotel interior. Circular in feeling and spiral in sighting, once you step out of your hotel room, is like you are in an opera theater. The set up is simply awesome.
The hotel fine dining restaurant (Cherry Garden, Melt – The World Café, Morton’s bar, Wasabi Bistro) allow the tourists to experience first hand Asian and international cuisine.
The Dolce Vita, serving Mediterranean cuisine, situated by the pool was the best I have ever been to. I like the tranquility and the superb harbour view looking out from the outdoor terrace. Simply breathtaking!
We went to the Mortons Steakhouse one night and the service was simply first class. We weren’t shown a menu to order but rather, the waiter came over with a trolley and we were shown the various cut of meat on a plate and various vegetables to choose from. The food was kind of expensive but we think it was well worth it.
The hotel lobbies cleverly include art décor which feature rich ancient Chinese curving. The ancient arts Chinese history was sporadically displayed, never clustered and never imposing.

Impressive Oriental Art Deco
The walk in the lobby exuded an air of peace, quiet and calm. The huge wall feature curving at the lobby represented the ancient Chinese heritage. The goddess statue at the 2nd level displayed prominently beside the lift, add a touch of Oriental.
We were offered an option to upgrade to a Club room. And yes, we were glad we did! The room was spacious and well fitted. The bed was inviting, soft and comfortable. The bathroom (huge and nice) made in marble and everything just seem so right…The attention to detail was outstanding. The Hotel Oriental Singapore has a very good view from the upper rooms.

The design of the Club lounge was charming and the feel was so comfortable you could simply just sit there with a cup of coffee for a great long time. The Club lounge had one of the most varieties of breakfast menu of any of the Club lounges as compared to other hotels. With free flowing champagne and the vast choice of items cooked to order for breakfast, it was sensational.
No Regret. Just pay a little more and go for the Club rooms… The breakfast in the club is just unbelievable, as is the evening cocktails and the stunning view from the club lounge is just as magnificent.
The service around the pool was nice and friendly. The pool deck had a great view of Singapore! The pool was also next to a small but adequate gym. From sorbets, water and ice cold fruit, provided every half hour or so, to having drinks refilled readily, the level of service and manners was akin to traveling first class on an Asian airline.
There was also no shortage of staff around, all ready to serve. The concierge would make anything happen that I need. Whenever I step out/step in of the hotel, there were always two staffs on standby at the door greeting and welcoming me with cheerful smile.
The Hotel Oriental Singapore is strategically position to allow tourists to explore the Marina Promenade with ease. There are entrances that can easily lead to the shopping center and exhibition hall in Suntec City. It is simply so convenient that makes shopping a breeze…
While the Hotel Oriental Singapore might not have the best room setup, the level of service is way better than some of the other luxury hotels. It is worth staying here for the excellent service alone, which is genuine in anticipating needs and being genuinely helpful. I strongly recommend for those tourists who pay more attention to service than any other things else.
