Tanglin Mall Singapore
Tanglin Mall

This is one of the Orchard shopping malls where you will find many Caucasian shoppers. For tourists from the west who suffers a bit of home sickness, this mall will make you feel like home. Tanglin Mall is a one-stop lifestyle shopping center, frequent by the affluent residents that stay in the nearby districts.

There are 4 floors of specialty and service shops, spanning an area of more than 145,000 sq feet, selling everything from handicrafts, scented candles, music to children’s toys, shoes and clothes, there is something for everyone here.

There are also a few boutiques in Tanglin Mall that sell nice handicrafts and ethic fashions imported from Singapore’s neighboring countries.

If you need a break, I suggest you try Caffe Beviamo. It is quite a popular cafe that serves delicious gourmet coffee, and the milkshakes are a hit among the kids. Even my wife loved it. The sandwiches are in massive size, but if you have a small stomach, they do sell in half portions.

Forum Galleria Shopping Mall

Forum Galleria

You will find lots of kids in the family-oriented Forum Galleria Shopping Mall.

The reason is simply that this place is full of shops selling kids’ stuffs. The mega kids shop that I would single out is the all-time popular — Toys “R” Us — a giant kid magnet. This is the emporium for toys; big toys, small toys, they have it all, especially the most ‘trendy’ among the kids. My favorite is the “Star Wars” figurine collections.

For brand conscious parents, Forum Galleria is a heaven. All your branded kids’ stuffs are centralized here – Guess Kids, DKNY Kids, Kids 21, Blossom and Friends, Lorna Whiston Study Center, The Little Gym, Twinkle Thinkers, Song + Kelly 21, Calvin Klein and many more. And for the shopping pleasure of the adults, D&G, Emporio Armani, MaxMara, Blackjack, TriBeCa and Marina Renaldi are there too.

Forum Galleria is definitely one of the perfect Orchard shopping malls for family, especially those with young kids.

Orchard Towers Singapore

Orchard Towers

Unlike the rest of the Orchard shopping malls, Orchard Towers is a two-faced mall. It is a retail shopping and office building during the day. When night falls, it transforms to an entertainment complex filled with glimmering nightlife activities.

From tailor shops that make dresses and suits, electronic stores that sell the most updated gadgets, tattoo parlors that offer the most wicked design to foot massage centers that give your tired feet a treat, Orchard Towers houses a wide variety of shops in it. On the 3rd floor, there is a Thai Restaurant that serves one of the best authentic Thai foods in Singapore.

Sex Shop at Orchard Towers
Sex Shop @ Orchard Towers

Orchard Towers is famous for its night entertainment. There are many bars and clubs that attract hundreds of patrons every night. Many girls that dress to thrill and kill will swarm in during late nights, to pick and to be picked-up by hungry predators. I supposed this is how Orchard Towers earned its alias, “Four Floors of Whores”!

Well, definitely not a place for night shopping.

Hilton Shopping Gallery

Hilton Shopping Gallery
Hilton Shopping Gallery

If you are looking for exclusive designer fashions, Hilton Shopping Gallery is the place to go.

Located within Hilton Hotel Singapore, there are 3 levels of branded international designer boutiques you will find here – Gucci, Donna Karan, Missoni, and Louis Vuitton, Giorgio Armani, Paul Smith, Valentino, just to name a few.

For those staying at the Four Seasons Hotel, there is a linked bridge that connects the hotel to the Hilton Shopping Gallery. If harvesting luxury designer fashion is your main affair, this place will be a paradise. For those passing-by, this place is as intriguing for window shopping.

Wheelock’s Place Singapore

Wheelock's Place Singapore
Wheelock’s Place

Wheelock’s Place is a dynamic and contemporary shopping canter for all. It is also one of my favorite Orchard shopping malls. It comprises of bookshops for the academics, wellness and beauty spas for the ladies, giant retail chain – Marks and Spencer – for the family, sports and casual wear for the young.

The Crumpler Bags is among my favorite shop here, selling uniquely designed rugged haversacks and notebook bags from Australia. Check out the latest limited-edition Onisuka collection in Star 360°.

You cannot miss the Dollz Inc at level 2. This specialty shop features wide range of Dolls from all over the world. If you are a Barbie fan, you will go wild here (almost every single model of Barbie Dolls can be found here).

Borders Bookstore
Borders Bookstore

Whenever I think of Wheelock’s Place, I think of the popular American bookstore – Borders. I usually soak myself here with books, magazines and music, while my wife “prow” the Orchard Road (and always returned with 2 handfuls of shopping bags — isn’t it lucky that she has only 2 hands!!!).

I like to read. Clifford said that I’m a gadget freak (in Mustafa Singapore article), he was wrong! I’m a scholastic gadget freak!!! Talking about gadgets, you should check out those iPod and other Macintosh gadgets at the epiCenter@Orchard at level 2.

Far East Plaza Singapore

uparrow go to top
Far East Plaza Singapore
Far East Plaza

Far East Plaza is a little different from the rest of the Orchard shopping malls. It didn’t have a flagship tenant. Rather, this crowded Orchard shopping mall is flurried with little individual shops selling everything from CDs to trendy punk fashions, luggage bags, camera equipments, shoes, eyewear to souvenirs.

As one of the older, more run-down shopping centers, it would be easy to overlook Far East Plaza in the wake of newer, shimmering Orchard shopping malls that seem to be popping up all over trendy Orchard Road. However, it somehow managed to curve out a niche for himself, by keeping the place “Real”. No lavish decoration, less expensive designer brand but more in house brand. Make sure you check out Level One, which boasts a wide array of street fashions, unique accessories & knick knacks!

Far East Plaza Level 1
Street Fashion @ Level 1

In Far East Plaza, you’ll be surprised (in my opinion) to find the best Hainanese chicken rice — even better than the famous tourist favorite Chatterbox… Just remember to look for the shop with “Hainanese…” on a yellow sign located at the 4th floor.

Caution yourself here: It seems that most of these shops do not display prices and it looks like they mark the price depending on how wealthy the customer appears. If you must shop here, use your shrewdest bargaining powers. It may pay off to wear an outfit that is less glamorous.

Tangs Plaza Singapore

Tangs Plaza Singapore
Tangs Plaza

Located along the junction of the Orchard Road, you will see a unique green roof and red pillars building standing tall among those stretches of modern Orchard shopping malls. And that is Singapore favorite son – Tangs Plaza.

The store is littered with necessities of modern life — from fashion and lifestyle goods, to home products and electrical appliances — through its department stores and boutique shops. A host of quality merchandise at fair prices can be found here. Five-storey supply of fashion wears, cosmetics, shoes, fabrics to electronics and household products. Of special interest to tourists are the silk and batik garments and souvenirs on the third level. The silk and batik outfits are particularly popular with visitors looking for gifts to take home.

The Scent Bar
The Scent Bar

And you can never miss the strong aroma fragrant on the first floor of the Tangs Beauty section. The Scent Bar which features the fragrance retail offers a wide fragrance collection from Calvin Klein, Bvlgari, Armani etc. It is a one stop source of cosmetic brands. Also check out the top floor for knick-knacks and bargains. You might just able to pick up something cheap and good.

Similar to a few of the Orchard shopping malls, Tangs Plaza is very much of a lifestyle shopping center. The concept is clean and neat. Very customer focused.

Lucky Plaza Singapore

Lucky Plaza Singapore
Lucky Plaza

Situated just beside Tang Plaza, Lucky plaza was one of the largest Orchard shopping malls in Singapore when it first started in 1978. With 5 levels of retail space, it was considered huge and spacious in Singapore at that time.

Today, many locals and tourists still come here for bargains on electronic goods, cameras, jewelry, watches, leather goods and luggage. There are also scores of tailors and specialty shops selling antiques, arts and crafts, crockery, porcelain, perfumeries and more. On the ground floor are several opticians offering good deals on designer sunglasses.

Unlike other Orchard shopping malls, bargaining is the order of the day if you want to get the best deals. Unfortunately things can turn ugly if you are unlucky to meet up with some not so honest salesman, who is taking us as plain stupid! So just exercise care and control.

Over the weekend, you will get to see scores of Filipino maids gathering in Lucky Plaza. It seems to me this Orchard shopping mall is a central meet up point for these maids given a day off. They simply congregate in large group and enjoy each other company – not so much of shopping.

Shaw House Singapore

Shaw House Singapore
Shaw House

Like Tang Plaza, Shaw House is among the few Orchard shopping malls which is culturally rich in history. From Tangs Plaza, you can make your way through the underground pass to Shaw House and its main tenant is Isetan, another large popular Japanese department store.

Shaw House is one of the popular places to watch your favorite movie blockbuster. With 8 screens hall on 2 levels, it can be considered as one of the biggest cinemas in Singapore. Even the Main hall, Lido 1 can seat over 900 movie goers. I don’t think other Orchard shopping malls have such appeal when come to movies and cinemas.

@ Shaw House

The main anchor tenant, Isetan, occupies five floors with their Japanese supermarket in the basement. The supermarket is well stocked with snacks, noodles, sushi and other grocery items from Japan. No wonder it is one of the most preferred shopping and meeting place for the Japanese expatriates.

If you are tired from shopping, Shaw House also catered to a numbers of Chinese restaurants, and fast food outlets such as Crystal Jade, McDonald’s, and Mos Burger.

Wisma Atria Singapore

uparrow go to top

What I like about this shopping mall? This shopping center has really affordable and value for money merchandise especially during festive season. Plan to spend at least half a day if you plan to shop in Wisma Atria. This will allow ample time to scrutinize the products offer in the mall. There are variety of shops that may sell similar things that you are looking for, just don’t rush to get it…do some price comparison.

Wisma Atria Singapore
Wisma Atria

I can’t say I know of every shop in all the Orchard shopping malls, but I believe I have been to enough to say that Wisma Atria is a place where you can shop confidently without any regret. I bought a kids’ wear for $16 in Wisma Atria, which cost about $30 somewhere else. In comparison to other Orchard shopping malls, Wisma Atria provides the money conscious shoppers with a breather.

Leading department store Isetan, Topshop, Topman and GAP are the main anchor tenants accompanied with some 90 other specialty stores (FCUK, bebe, Maxstudio.com, Warehouse, Mango, Forever 21, Esprit, GG<5 , Charles & Keith, etc) you can expect in Wisma Atria. This trendy mall offers modern fashions mainly targeting at the stylish female shoppers.

Wisma Atria is a pleasant place to shop, but it can be over crowded sometimes. And do take note that there are no baby rest rooms in the mall if you are planning to shop with your infant. Always remember, bring along your credit cards as you might get to enjoy further discount with the right credit cards.

Orchard Paragon Singapore

Orchard Paragon Singapore
Orchard Paragon

This is definitely the place for the RICH and FAMOUS! Yes…Orchard Paragon is an up-market Orchard shopping mall renowned for its high end luxury designer brands like the Prada, Gucci, Versace, Salvatore Ferragomo, Valentino, Tods, and Alfred Dunhill etc. You will find lots of wealthy shoppers and tourists here in search of top-notch products and services.

@ Orchard Paragon

Some of the favorite establishments among Singaporeans are the Paragon’s anchor tenants – Metro, Marks & Spencer, Paragon Market Place and Toys ‘R’ Us. Popular sportswear such as Nike, Adidas, Mizuno, Pan West etc are there for the sport enthusiasts to take their pick. Other lifestyle shops include designer furniture stores, spa & fitness outlets. For the wine enthusiasts, there is a wine outlet at basement 1, which is packed with crates and crates of wine. I believe this is the place to hunt for some rare and fine wine.

Orchard Paragon is a mall that is both appealing to the tourists and locals.

Ngee Ann City Singapore

Ngee Ann City

When you are done shopping at the Paragon, just take a leisurely stroll across Orchard Road to get to the Ngee Ann City. It comprises of 2 office-cum-shopping towers, Ngee Ann City Tower A and Ngee Ann City Tower B, which then houses several big names departmental store in a very spacious environment.

Ngee Ann City is easily the biggest if not the most happening mall among the Orchard shopping malls. You certainly need to spend hours just by browsing on the products and services offered. Takashimaya, another Japanese departmental store is it anchor tenant. Alfred Dunhill, Chanel, Coach, Tiffany & Co, Royal Copenhagen, Louis Vuitton, Vacheron Constantin and a Waterford and Wedgwood boutique are found here, along with many other local and international fashion shops.

Busking at Ngee Ann City
Busking @ Ngee Ann City

I have no problem looking for some of my favorite labels like Calvin Klein, Guess, Spain’s Zara, Mango and Australia’s Country Road.

At Basement 2 of Ngee Ann City, shoppers’ fairs are regularly held, where you can find toys, tableware, bedlinen, etc. at bargain prices. At level 3 is where the Southeast Asia’s biggest bookstore, Books Kinokuniya is located.

Occasionally, buskers will gathered just outside this huge shopping mall to entertain shoppers. It’s a great place to leisurely stroll your way in the afternoon under the shade.

This massive Orchard shopping mall will easily take you more than a day to completely browse through its loaded items. Ngee Ann City is a must-visit for a trip to Orchard Road.

The Heeren Shops Singapore

The Heeren Shops

The Heeren Shops is a place for the unusual and edgy. Shoppers that frequent The Heeren Shops are typically young individuals who dress distinctly, projecting a cutting edge styles. Merchandise you can find in The Heeren are very unique, exciting, and are particularly appealing to those that have a zest for life and confident in their beliefs.

There is always something unexpected you can find at the mall which makes the shopping experience in The Heeren exhilarating. It is this surprising and provoking attitude that The Heeren is always at the forefront in influencing and setting trend.

For music lovers, the Singapore HMV branch is situated right at the front entrance of the mall, with countless plasma monitors flashing the latest American and British MTV chart toppers.

Comparing with the rest of Orchard shopping malls, The Heeren Shops is certainly the choice for an intoxicating urban hangout!

Orchard Cineleisure Singapore

Orchard Cineleisure Singapore
Cathay Cineleisure

Located in the heart of Orchard Road, Cathay Cineleisure is the first Orchard shopping mall to adopt a movie-set theme. “Cineleisure” is a name that Cathay Organization Holdings Ltd plan to brand in the region as a leisure, lifestyle and retail concept entertainment center. It is because of this concept that a carefully mix of tenants are chosen to provide patrons in Orchard Cineleisure a wholesome leisure experience. Lifestyle retail shopping, fine dining, casual dining, health spa, beauty center, games arcade, cyber-cafe, social club and of course, not forgetting the acclaimed best screens of Singapore (a choice of 6 movie halls) are activities you can indulge yourself in.

To many, Orchard Cineleisure is known as “Cine” in short. It houses a section of youth themed retailers showcasing individual lifestyle and fashions on the second floor know as “L2″. On the ninth floor, there is a huge e-gaming center know as E2-Max where more than 200 e-gaming stations can be found, featuring movie-related e-games. There are also rooms available for private gaming…a latest and largest e-gaming haven for the game enthusiasts.

The Cineleisure is a wonderful hangout both for the youths and family.

Centrepoint Singapore

Centrepoint Singapore
Centrepoint

The Centrepoint Shopping Mall is a very popular shopping destination among the locals and visitors from abroad. This place is especially crowded during the Great Singapore Sales (GSS) and Christmas seasons.

Greeting you at the main entrance is the main anchor tenant, the legendary Robinsons & Co.(winner of the 2002 Tourism Awards – Best Shopping Experience Retail Outlet). Other anchor tenants you can expect here are Cold Storage and Marks & Spencer.

There are also a good mix of well-known retailers providing a wide choice of quality merchandise such as furnishings (Indonesian, Chinese and Peranakan styles), optical equipments, electronics, casual wears (Esprit, Gap and Timberland), Asian artifacts and antiques, books, so on and so fore. For those into music, there are stores in Centrepoint that specializes in classical musical instruments.

For a meal or a quick bite, there are several eateries and restaurants located at the basement of Centrepoint to satisfy your taste buds. Food is generally quite good and reasonable in price too.

This self-contained complex is also one of the remarkable Orchard shopping malls not to be missed.

OG is a home grown one-stop family store and a popular household name in Singapore. A good range of merchandise such as cosmetics, handbags, men and women’s fashion wears, jewelry etc are moderately priced which make this a very affordable shopping destination to the cost conscious. Local designers’ wears are also featured in OG where you’ll get excellent values during promotion period.

Of course you can have a sip of Coffee Bean and Tea Leaves if you are feeling thirsty. You can even get the magazine cover look at Glamour Shots (if you are feeling sexy) and some other fashion wear shops over in Orchard Point. Check out the art galleries on the fourth level.

Park Mall Singapore

Park Mall Singapura
Park Mall

Call this a home lifestyle or specialty mall if you like. Park Mall is atypical compared to the rest of Orchard shopping malls. The whole of this mall is devoted to just one thing – home furnishing.

With over 45 retailers, Park Mall offers a wide selection of unique and quality designer home products from various parts of the world such as top international brand names like Castilla, Kronotex, Casa Nuovo X-TRA Designs etc.

Target at the posh and upmarket segment (you can tell from their 4-figure price tags); Park Mall is the place to source for that masterpiece if you have the budget to match your taste. Otherwise, it is also quite an eye opener just by merely looking at all the great designer ranges.

So shop, eat and chill every Saturday at Orchard late night shopping!
