First Singapore Airport Hotel…Crowne Plaza Hotel Changi Airport…So Elegant, Stylish, Chic And Graceful
I was told by Ian that we finally have a Singapore Airport Hotel (opened in May 2008) at the Changi Airport. That came as a surprise to me. Having known Singapore Changi Airport has been in existence for almost 20 years, why an Airport Hotel so late?
My intuition all the while was that Singapore is such a small country and it is pointless to have an Airport Hotel because you could access every corner of the island in matters of minutes. My notion of Singapore Airport Hotels has always been that of Le Meridien Changi Hotel located at Changi Village or that of Goldkist Beach Resort located at East Coast Parkway in which both are about 15 minutes drive from the Airport.
Ian thinks the launch of the first Singapore Airport Hotel which is also known as Crowne Plaza Hotel Singapore, is timely and necessary due to the expansion of Changi Airport with its 3rd Terminal. He also added that Singapore is playing host to many upcoming world largest events, the need to accommodate international visitors coming for an abrupt stay is imminent.

Thus, the Crowne Plaza Hotel, being located within Changi Airport Terminal 3, is just perfect for the 24hr travelers looking for instant gratification to that comfy bed after that jetlag agony. How fortunate considering those that are still in the taxi queue about to be succumbed by the z-monsters.
So, what is so great about this brand new Singapore Airport Hotel? We decided to check it out.
The first sight of the hotel was pretty impressive. I thought the signature steel exterior of the hotel was pretty inspiring. The setting of the hotel is modern and stunning.
We went on to have an evening drink at the lobby lounge and I must admit the lobby is exceptional. The intimacy of the decoration is extremely retro and the color combination of the modern furnishings and surrounding forms an eye-catching and yet not too overly striking backdrop.

Crowne Plaza Hotel Lobby Bar
The selections of restaurants and bars in the hotel are far superior then my expectation. At the lobby, you will find the Imperial Treasure Chinese Restaurant, an extremely reputable restaurant chain in Singapore, serving remarkable Cantonese cuisine. On the second floor, there is the Azur Restaurant offering all day international cuisines dining. The lust of the restaurant’s graceful interior décor promises you an unprecedented dine-in pleasure.
Right at the same floor, stood a sports themed bar (bar 75) where you could relax your way with a drink while watching your favorite sport, play the Foozeball or Pool.
The 30 meters hotel pool with bubbly Jacuzzi corners, landscaped with lovely surrounding plants and palm trees, sets an amazing ambience admiring from a distance especially with the glowing night lights on.
The pool was rather peaceful without a soul while we were there, only to realize later that it was closed for the evening at 7pm. I thought that was sort of early to close the pool at that time, considering the fact that many guests might like to immerse themselves in the lovely pool to ease off the days tension.

In terms of proximity, the Singapore Airport Hotel is truly second to none. Whether your flight is stopping over at Terminal 1 or 2, you are certain that you will reach the hotel quick and easy via the skytrain that links all the terminals. The airport hotel is literally right by the terminal 3 skytrain stop. And right at the basement of terminal 3, there are shops, supermarket and a huge food court. Shopping and eating couldnt have been easier. Not forgetting that the MRT station is just right around the corner, going downtown is just a matter of 30 minutes away.
My overall first impression of the Singapore Airport Hotel is welcoming. Although I did not have the opportunity to experience a room stay at the Crowne Plaza, judging by the details of the furnishing, the daunting vogue settings that blends well into a resort styled experience, it clearly exemplifies a class of its own, and definitely resonance the Crowne Plaza trade name.
Undoubtedly, the first Singapore Airport Hotel is not just a great place for an overnight stay, but also a perfect place to enjoy a relaxing afternoon high tea or evening drinks with friends.
