Singapore nightlife, to some of my friends is totally none existence (that is because they are a bunch of goody boy!!) To the non drinker, non smoker and non happening sort, if you will to ask them about Singapore nightlife, you can expect the expected. Damn it! Get a life! (Do not be fooled…Ask the right people!!!)

Singapore night has undergone major cardiology surgery in recent years. The heart beat of the night could not have been better. In fact, it is the best time now to experience the night pulse of the city state... The transformation is startling and refreshing..(ban on bar top dancing was lifted and extended night operating hours...to name but a few).

Forget about the hearsay of obedient law abiding citizens who just do not know what FUN is all about, in fact the young generation of lion has just been let loose, having a meal of their time at night.

For those who love to drink, they are abundant of clubs and pubs in this small little city, enough to drown you with the intoxicating liquor. The network of establishment located conveniently allows you to hop and jump around without much fuse, and cherry pick the pubs that fit your bill, your mood and your immediate desire...

I once wrote to my friend, Ian (a hardcore party animal and well travelled) to ask him how he feels about Singapore nightlife as compare to others cities in the world (e.g Bangkok).

His answers is unsentimental: It is high time Singapore open up in the night and not just for the Formula 1 night race,” he adds In this city, we are seeing more vibrancy and colour coming our way, it getting interesting but much still can be done, especially the night scene.” hmm… as usual, brutally honest opinion.

The nights just do not solely belong to the drinkers and party animals. Die hard shopper will find solace in the city night. In fact late night shopping is getting popular. (Shop till you drop…)

For the food lover, the nights also represent another set of local dishes and environment for you to salvage. From Newton food court to Geylang coffee shop, you can experience a totally different setup of food establishment and cuisine.

For the culturally more refine, theater and concert performances are always ongoing. The newly built Esplanade show cast some of the international best performance and shows.

While you continued to be thrilled and mesmerized by the Singapore nightlife, I certainly like to warn you…and bring you back to your senses.

• Do not drink and drive
• Smoking are restricted in most entertainment outlets
• Party drug are strictly NO! NO!
• Adopt safe sex (use rubber)
• Low crime does not mean NO crime… Keep watch on your wallet

What more can you ask for if you can enjoy all the night activities, knowing that you are being in one of the safest countries in the world. Don’t be surprise if you see lady jogger hitting the street, running alone in the middle of the night – that is how safe Singapore can be.
